MACHINE BREAKDOWNS--------------------CAUSES--------------------SOLUTIONS

If you have Electronic Boxes, some of these solutions may not apply 

THINGS TO LOOK FOR WHEN

1.         Sweep does not start, trips breaker

A)         Pin or ball jammed by one of the sweep arms

SOLUTION -- Remove item, reset breaker

B)         Chain off

SOLUTION -- Put chain back on, check timing, reset breaker

2.         Sweep does not stop.

A)         Sweep not hitting sweep limit switch

SOLUTION -- Bend or replace switch 

B)         Bowler’s reset button defective

SOLUTION -- Replace reset button 

3.         Sweep will not start, reset light will not come on.

A)         Tube board not up to maximum height

SOLUTION -- Check to see if there are pin in the tube board preventing it from reaching maximum height 

B)         Small 10 amp. Fuse in back right hand corner of control box is blown

SOLUTION -- Replace fuse

4.         Tube board not stopping

A)         Tube limit switch defective

SOLUTION -- Bend or replace switch 

B)         White wire on tube limit switch touching some part of mental frame to

metal end of wire

SOLUTION -- Bend end of wire away from frame 

5.         Tube Board not starting

A)         Leaf spring switch that sweep hits on return path is broken or loose

(check for broken wire also)

SOLUTION -- Bend or replace spring so that the sweep arm makes contract with it on return path (repair broken wires if needed) 

B)         Defective tube limit switch

SOLUTION – Replace switch

6.         Machine dropping pin

A)         Broken finger

SOLUTION – Replace with emergency finger

B)         Broken latch spring

SOLUTION – Replace

C)         Fingers not moving far enough to latch into place

SOLUTION – Remove pin

7.         Machine not dropping pins

A)         Broken spring on finger assembly

SOLUTION – Replace spring (springs)

B)         Pin on tube board not allowing fingers to move

SOLUTION – Remove pin

8.         Machine empty sets

A)         Defective pusher limit switch or broken wire on switch

SOLUTION – Replace the switch

B)         Defective tube limit switch

SOLUTION – Replace switch

C)         Defective #10 top or #10 bottom switch

SOLUTION – Replace or readjust switch

9.         Ball elevator not working

A)         Pin in ball lift

SOLUTION – Remove pin by moving ball life backwards by hand, reset breaker

B)         Breaker off

SOLUTION – Reset breaker

C)         Blown fuse

SOLUTION – Replace fuse

10.        Pusher does not stop

A)         Defective pusher limit switch

SOLUTION – Replace or readjust switch

B)         #10 top or #10 bottom switch defective

SOLUTION – Replace or readjust switch

C)         Tube board not up to maximum height

SOLUTION – Check to see if there are pins on the tube board preventing it from rising to maximum height, raise the tube board to correct placement by hand.

11.        Pusher will not stop

A)         Bad fuse

SOLUTION – Replace fuse

B)         Defective pusher limit switch

SOLUTION – Replace or adjust

C)         Bad motor

SOLUTION – Replace motor

12.        Pusher stops part way through cycle

A)         Defective pusher limit switch

SOLUTION – Replace

B)         Defective #10 bottom switch

SOLUTION – Replace or adjust
